Details
What's wrong: There is a lack of a ground to the junction box located under the gooseneck and above the pin box. This could result in a failure to activate the brakes in the event the fifth wheel becomes disengaged from the tow vehicle.
Why it matters: This condition could cause the trailer brakes to be inoperative during a trailer breakaway, increasing the risk of a crash.
The fix: Dealers will install a ground wire between the junction box and the trailer frame.
