NHTSA recall 11V236000
Exterior Lighting · DRV Suites
Details
What's wrong: Affects vehicles equipped with itc 2 wire dimmer switches. The dimmer circuit board overheats during use causing the circuit board and dimmer housing to melt and deform. As the dimmer switch fails, the lights may become inoperable or not work correctly and there may be a noticeable smoke or burning smell.
Why it matters: The failure of the dimmer switch will cause the lights to stop dimming and/or working. An overheated switch can also lead to personal injury and/or fire.
The fix: Dealers will replace the dimmer switches free of charge. The safety recall began on May 3, 2011.
