NHTSA recall 12V278000
Service Brakes, Hydraulic · Winnebago Industries, Inc.
Details
What's wrong: These motorhomes chassis are equipped with bosch hydraulic disc brakes which when exposed to long periods of time of non-driving may experience diametrical brake caliper piston growth and reduced piston to bore clearance potentially leading to brake drag and overheating resulting in reduced brake performance.
Why it matters: Reduced brake performance increases the risk of a crash.
The fix: Freightliner custom chassis (fccc) will notify owners, and dealers will repair the vehicles, free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided the agency with a remedy or owner notification schedule for this campaign.
