Details

What's wrong: In the affected vehicles, the engine control module (ECM) software may cause the fuel gauge to read inaccurately.

Why it matters: An inaccurate fuel gauge may result in the vehicle unexpectedly running out of fuel and stalling, increasing the risk of a crash.

The fix: Gm will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the ECM to correct the fuel gauge reading, free of charge. The recall began on June 27, 2014.
