Details

What's wrong: While entering the vehicle, the seat belt tensioner cable may be positioned such that the driver slides over it. This movement may result in the fatigue and separation of the cable.

Why it matters: If the tensioner cable separates, the driver may not be properly restrained in the event of a crash, increasing their risk of injury.

The fix: Gm will notify owners, and dealers will modify the vehicles to prevent the tensioner from being damaged. Any tensioner that has already been damaged will be replaced, free of charge. The recall began on August 11, 2016.
