NHTSA recall 16V744000
Equipment Adaptive/Mobility · Newmar Corporation
Details
What's wrong: Affects vehicles equipped with wheelchair lifts. Incorrect bolts may have been used to install the wheelchair lift base. These bolts may unexpectedly break allowing the lift to move. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (fmvss) number 404, "platform lift installations."
Why it matters: Unintentional movement of the wheelchair lift can cause injury to the lift occupant and/or the lift operator.
The fix: Newmar will notify owners, and newmar service facilities will replace the wheelchair lift base mounting bolts, free of charge. The recall began on October 28, 2016.
