Details

What's wrong: The connector between the electric power steering module and the torque sensor may fail, possibly resulting in a loss of electric power steering assist.

Why it matters: A greater steering effort would be needed to control the vehicle if power steering assist is lost, especially at lower speeds, increasing the risk of a crash.

The fix: Gm will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the steering gear assembly, replacing it as necessary, free of charge. The recall began May 15, 2017.
