What's wrong: The cargo carrying capacity label (ccc) on the trailer may show an incorrect load carrying capacity, which could lead to an unintentional overloading of the vehicle. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard numbers 110, "tire selection and rims" and 120, "wheels and rims-other than passenger cars."
Why it matters: A trailer that is overloaded can cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.
The fix: Dealers will install new labels, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed February 9, 2023.
