NHTSA recall 23V031000
Back Over Prevention, Electrical System · Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC
Details
What's wrong: The vehicles fail to make sufficient pedestrian warning sounds when stationary and in reverse. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 141, "minimum sound requirements for hybrid and electric vehicles."
Why it matters: A vehicle that fails to make sufficient sound may result in pedestrians being unaware of an approaching vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
The fix: Dealers will update the audio amplifier software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 16, 2023.
