What's wrong: The welded spur gear within the front axle electric drivetrain may not have been welded properly. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 114, "theft protection."

Why it matters: An improperly welded spur gear can fail and result in a vehicle rollaway, increasing the risk of a crash.

The fix: Dealers will replace the front axle electric drivetrain, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on August 9, 2024.
