NHTSA recall 26V189000

What's wrong: The right and left side curtain air bags may have insufficient pressure retention. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (fmvss) number 226, "ejection mitigation."

Why it matters: Air bags with insufficient pressure retention increase the risk of ejection and injury during a crash.

The fix: Dealers will replace the side curtain air bags, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 14, 2026.
