Problem: The stop/turn combination module of the rear light assembly was installed as a single filament lamp device which only functions as a stop/turn lamp, and does not provide tail lamps.
Risk: The trailers do not comply with fmvss 108, "lamps,reflective devices, and associated equipment". the trailers would not beconspicuously visible in reduced daylight conditions, which could lead to a rearend collision.
Fix: Install correct tail lamp assemblies.
Fix it, equip it, or try one first
Replacement parts for the systems owners report most: water, LP gas, slide-outs, electrical.
RV makers post owner manuals free; chassis service manuals (Ford, Freightliner) are sold separately.
Rent one from an owner to test it on a real trip.
