Vehicle Speed Control #05V430000 · 2005 · 12,398 units
Problem: On certain motorcycles, the throttle cables come into contact with the tunnel portion of the fuel tank.
Risk: In this condition, the cables could eventually wear through the tank, causing a fuel leak. fuel leakage, in the presence of an ignition source, could result in a fire.
Fix: Dealers will inspect the cable and tank, reposition the cable and, if necessary, repair or replace the tank and/or cables free of charge. the recall began on october 31, 2005. owners may contact harley-davidson at 1-414-343-4056.
Exterior Lighting #04V218000 · 2004 · 31,070 units
Problem: On certain dyna, xl, and touring motorcycles, the tail light bulb can fall out of the socket.
Risk: The tail light and the brake light become inoperative, which could lead to a crash.
Fix: Dealers will replace the bulbs. owner notification began on june 3, 2004. owners should contact harley-davidson at 1-414-342-4680.
