NHTSA recall 05V430000
Vehicle Speed Control · Harley-Davidson Motor Company
Details
What's wrong: On certain motorcycles, the throttle cables come into contact with the tunnel portion of the fuel tank.
Why it matters: In this condition, the cables could eventually wear through the tank, causing a fuel leak. Fuel leakage, in the presence of an ignition source, could result in a fire.
The fix: Dealers will inspect the cable and tank, reposition the cable and, if necessary, repair or replace the tank and/or cables free of charge. The recall began on October 31, 2005.
